Matthew Good Show Review 10.25.2004
Bands: Matthew Good, Auf Der Maur, Limblifter
Show Date & Location: October 15, 2004 - (Calgary, Alberta)

Just got back from seeing Matthew Good/Auf Der Maur/Limblifter, yes I'm in Canada. This show is part of Matthew Good's PUT OUT YOUR LIGHTS TOUR.

Limblifter played a spirited show playing their 2 known hits "Tinfoil" and "Ariel vs. Lotus" as well as an Age of Electric cover. But, most of their set was new material off of their newest CD "I/O" which they released independently here in Canada.

Next on stage was Auf Der Maur, yes this is Melissa Auf Der Maur of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins fame. Auf Der Maur were a little disappointing with their performance, I almost think they sound better on their CD, could also have been the sound. But, not very memorable for me.

Finally the man of the hour took the stage, MATTHEW GOOD. What can I say about Matthew Good? He gets better every time I see him, and I have seen him like 6 times now. I don't think there are many other people in the world capable of putting on a better live performance than Matt Good. Besides having a vast amount of timeless music to play, Matt Good also connects with his audience in ways I only seen a few times before. It seems Matt Good has gotten away from playing all of his hits at his shows and is focusing more on lesser know tracks being mixed in with tracks off of his newest, and amazing, CD "White Light Rock & Roll Review", could be best CD of 2004. Matt Good also took time during his set to promote his charity of choice, Amnesty International, and took shots at the US government. All in all this is probably the best Matt Good show I have ever seen. If you have a chance to go see Matt Good anytime in the future, or anytime for that matter, please do it, you will be doing yourself a favor. I would like to leave you with a quote from the show, it is from Ryan Dhale, lead singer of Limblifter, "I have seen Matt Good many times but he has never been as good as he has been on this tour."
