Textbook Music is a small independent record label
that is starting to make some noise in the ever changing music world. What sets
this label apart from many of the other small independent labels is its ability
to find great bands and produce great records. Don’t let the labels size fool
you because these bands play big and pack a huge punch.
With only four bands on its roster, Textbook Music is poised to become the next
Drive-Thru Records or Fueled By Ramen Record. Their commitment to their bands
and to producing some of the best records out in music today doesn’t hurt their
status in the music world either. The label’s roster is currently comprised of
Marigold, Renee Heartfelt, Solea and The Twilight Collective. The first three
band that I just mentioned will all be releasing their debut full length records
on Textbook Music by the end of October 2005.
Let’s examine these bands and see why they are so special and why they will put
Textbook Music on the map. Let start with Marigold. Marigold is the new project
from former ‘This Day Forward’ guitarist/vocalist Vadim Taver. The band provides
a new spin on the whole independent rock scene while not falling into the “indie
band” label. Lyrically and vocally are where the band shines as they are
conscious as to what they say and how they say it.
Marigold is complemented by the band Solea which feature former member of ‘Texas
Is The Reason”, ‘Samiam/Knapsack’ and ‘Sensefield’. How can you tell that
Textbook Music has an affinity for bands formed from older defunct bands? Solea
is not a band that wants to relive their glory days from their past bands but
they want to create their own niche in the music industry and make music that
will one day become timeless.
Renee Heartfelt are the heart and soul of Textbook Music. Their pure passion and
energy set the apart from any other band in music today. The band has the
ability to convey emotion with their music like only a handful of bands can. Did
I also mention that Renee Heartfelt is another band comprised of members of
defunct bands such as ‘Give Up The Ghost’, ‘Count Me Out’ and ‘Striking
Distance’?
The Twilight Collective is the last band and greenest band on the label. They
have a very unique sound that is like no other band out today. Their debut
record of pop, rock, progressive and hardcore will be released in February 2006.
With a line-up like this you can clearly see how Textbook Music is becoming one
of the hottest underground independent labels in rock today. If Textbook Music
can continue to unearth bands like the ones currently on their roster they will
become one of the most influential labels in music today.
