Interviews - Hidden In Plain View - 01.21.2005
Hey guys, it's me br0ken, I'm here with Hidden In Plain View's drummer Spencer, Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. Here we go.

Q - Please state your name, age, your position in the band as well as nick names you guys may have?
A - Spencer Peterson - drums. Most of the time I just get called asshole.

Q - Where did you guys come up with the name “Hidden In Plain View”? Is there a special meaning behind it?
A - Joe was working at a supermarket and over heard an old woman saying something about it I think.

Q - How long have you guys been together for? What would you say that has evolved the band on what it is today?
A - The band has been around for almost 4 years. There have been member changes, we've all gotten older, and have found new music. Or music that is new to us.

Q - What artists or types of music have influenced you guys in what you do today?
A - At the drive in, Refused, Jimmy Eat World. As far as types of music go, we all have our own thing going on.

Q - How would you describe the relationship you guys have with each other and with your fans?
A - We pretty much all live together, being on the road alot. We aren't the kind of band where some people donąt like this person or whatever. When we go on tour for long periods of time, you start to pick out stupid things and pet peeves, like how someone chews. It can get pretty silly. As far as fans go, we love talking and hanging out. You can always catch us at the merch table at shows. We like getting presents too, haha.

Q - You guys have your new album coming out on February 22nd of this year and I wanted to know what your favourite song on the new CD is and did you have trouble trying to pick which tracks to add to it (if you recorded a lot of songs beforehand)?
A - We ended up recording 13 songs and an intro. The intro was kind of irrelevant to the rest of the cd, so it didn't make the cut. The b sides were pretty straight forward. We pretty much know which songs were stronger. Our favorite track would have to be The Garden Statement. Every time I listen to it I find a new favorite song though.

Q - Are you guys trying to portrait any kind of message through the music and its lyrics?
A - Rob writes the lyrics. Most of the time he writes about experiences in his life, or what he is going through at the time. Some of the material he has was written in high school, and other stuff is 2 days old.

Q - With the upcoming release of your new album, do you plan on releasing an EP to go along with it?
A - Nope. Just a straight forward full-length record. There are interviews and live footage and enhanced stuff though you can watch in the computer.

Q - Well thank you for your time, do you have any last comments or shout outs you guys would like to make?
A - Um.....check out our new record Life In Dreaming out February 22nd. I think that's it. Peace dudes. Oh, and we are going to be on tour for the rest of the year so watch for us around your city. Vote for pedro.

Thanks a lot, I'll be looking forward to the new record. I wish you and the rest of the band a lot of success in the future. Rock on!!!!
