Interviews - The Fight - 02.16.2005
Q - Starting off... Can you each please state your name, age, what you do in the band and nicknames if you have any?
A - Hey I'm Kate, I'm 20 and I play Guitar and sing vocals in the band. Jack is 18 and plays Drums, Matt is 19 and plays Bass, and Scott is 18 and plays Guitars. None of us really have any nicknames except Jack who's nick name is Teddy Gray.

Q - As a band, are all of the members more like a close-knit family or just business associates with a similar goal?
A - We are all pretty close to be fair, close like brothers and sisters... Jack is my brother anyway and Matt and Scott are like our extended family. we spend so much time together on tour and we have alot of fun. obviously sometimes we argue, but thats because we are only human. We never hold grudges when we have argued.

Q - How did you decide on the name "The Fight"? Does it have a special meaning?
A - There is no special meaning behind our band name - we just tried to rip off The Clash.

Q - What music or artists have inspired you the most or influenced you to do what you do today?
A - A lot of different bands and artists have influenced us. We would like to think that the one thing that has inspired us the most is dr pepper.

Q - How would you describe the relationship between the band and your fans?
A - In the U.K we are really close with our biggest fans. We know them all personally and stay in contact with most of them. It's always nice to get to see them when we are passing through their towns. in the states it is different, just because it is so much bigger. We still know alot of our us fans personally too. even if we don't know some people by name, we recognize faces and it is always rad to see the same faces coming out to our shows.

Q - How would say the journal's have helped you maintain sort of a personal relationship with your fans?
A - I think our journals just give an insight to the everyday life of "The Fight". we don't just write about band stuff though. i write about shit that goes on while we are at home too. I think that people generally want to know about what goes on behind the scenes.

Q - What music or artists are currently in your CD player?
A - Oh god, there is soo much cool shit at the moment. I am really loving a lot of different stuff including Not Katies, Zeropointsix, Addison, My Chemical Romance, Coheed And Cambria, The Black Eyed Peas, Better Left Alone, Days When I, Chronic Future, and loads of (expletive).

Q - What bands would you recommend that everyone should hear but has not gained the exposure that they deserve?
A - Definatley the Not Katies.. check them out at www.notkaties.com They are such an awesome english band that I really really love. There live show is awesome and they really (expletive) care about music and what it's all about.>

Q - How would you describe your live shows?
A - Energetic, fun, lively, crazy, stupid, loud and hetic.

Q - After just recently touring, what would you say are the top three pros and cons about touring?
A - Top three pro's are : Playing music every day, getting to meet amazing people and bands and travelling the world.

Q - What bands would you one day love to tour with?
A - I always wanted to tour with Greenday - that would be amazing. There's lots of bands though. Essentially, anyone who is cool and that we would have a fun time with.

Q - How would you say that your music and the band itself have evolved from when the band first started?
A - I just think that we have generally got better. We have learned so much from recording and touring and meeting lots of other bands. our music has got toghter and our live show has become more of a show as apposed to just a band playing a few tunes.>

Q - Is there any history or specific reason behind the song "Forgotten Generation"?
A - Just that where I come from, there is (expletive) all to do. I wrote that song when I was a bit younger and there was just nothing for my generation of kids except to hang around in the streets and do drugs... thats why we played music instead - it was something constructive to do with our time.>

Q - Is the band trying to portray any kind of message with the music and lyrics?
A - I just write about (expletive) that I know about. I think that our general message is that we are four normal kids that wanted to play music stupidly bad. We are the same as any other kids and we believe that any kids who want to do this, really can do it if they put there hearts into it.>

Q - Do you have any thoughts or advice for people trying to start up a band or already have a young band?
A - Yeah, practice hard and lots and play as many shows as you can. use the internet as a way to promote you're band and get the word out. Just try and get as many friends as possible to spread the word and never give up - even if it seems to be going nowhere. the most important thing is to have as much fun as possible along the way and don't take anything for granted.>

Q - Any last comments or shout-outs?
A - Like I said, check out Not Katies. also check out a band called Zero Point Six at www.zeropointsix.com ... I would also like to say that I miss all my friends at home, and that when I finally get back we are gonna party like mad..

thanks.....
