A Love Ends Suicide -
In The Disaster
The face of American metalcore
nowadays seems to be generic, dull, and bands within its genre a dime a dozen.
However, there are some exceptions which give a glimpse of hope to the metalcore
genre. A Love Ends Suicide for instance, use a successful formula of Europe
influenced metal riffs and America’s throat wrenching hardcore vocals. This is a
common formula for other bands in their genre, but they seem to have an All that
Remains approach by fully utilizing their melodies and tempo changes to give the
fans something new and fresh.
Being signed to As I Lay Dying
frontman Tim Lambesis’ label High Impact, there is an obvious comparison between
the two up and coming bands. One can hear John Cairoli’s energetic clean vocals
are complemented well with ferocious hardcore vocals, simultaneously intertwined
with dynamic breakdowns and melodic harmonies, not to mention the intense
dual-kick drumming. Songs like “The Black Art”, “Dying to be Beautiful”, and
“Romance Created” really showcase the band’s music abilities, not to mention
their technically sound dual-guitar work.
“In the Disaster” overall is an
impressive debut for this five-piece band from California. Lyrically, the album
is very impressive, and much less calculated like similar bands in their genre.
There is always a doubt for metalcore bands of where do we go from here, as most
seem to not have an answer for that question. However, as long as this band
continues their progressive and creative style of metal, they have definite
potential to evolve.
