Bixler - Bixler (EP)

It is no simple task to describe this young, yet experienced band that is making waves all over the Southeast. In Bixler’s short history, the group has shared the stage with national acts such as Yellowcard (Capitol), the Pink Spiders (Geffen), Feable Weiner (Doghouse), the Features (Universal), and Kutless (Tooth and Nail).

Bixler’s energetic brand of fun rock leaves the band’s loyal audience, as well as first timers, craving more. With the help of producer Aaron Sain, the group has managed to capture this energy on their latest self titled EP. The EP is composed of four solid pop-rock tracks, sure to keep you humming all day long.

The EP showcases two styles for the band, both of which they perform very well. ‘Falling To Pieces’ contains a good amount of energy and definitely has the composition of a true radio hit. ‘On and On’ is also energetic and has more of a pop-punk feel to it. The chorus is the true selling point of the song which is supported by memorable hooks and vocal harmonies. ‘October’ slows things down with its acoustic-punk feel, while ‘Loser’s Day Parade’ takes the cake as my favorite track on the EP. Its an emotional piano ballad that’s a complete masterpiece. I love how the song starts off slowly then just explodes into driving guitars and vociferous vocals. The lyrics in this track are deep. My favorite line is “I’ve walked a thousand miles, but never left my front door. I can’t talk to her, we’re not friends anymore.” The use of profound lyrics here, helps to create a song that I’m sure any listener could relate too when they are feeling down on themselves.

Overall this was a very solid EP by the band. These four tracks lead me to believe that the band has excellent potential. I could say with confidence that I would be eagerly anticipating a full length album. In the meantime be sure to check out their self-titled EP. It's red, it's white and it's got Bixler on the front of it.
