Family Values Tour 2006
Everyone always says that the third time is the charm but in the case of the Family Values Tour it seems as if the fourth time is the charm. On the fourth installment of the live Family Values Tour album the music is taken to another level. Perennial favorites Korn are back to headline this tour and they have brought a superb list of friends along for the ride. The tour consists of all-stars like the Deftones and Stone Sour who need no introduction. The bill is rounded out with up and comers 10 Years, Deadsy, Dir En Grey and Flyleaf. If you have heard of the headliners on this tour you are probably pretty excited right now, but if you have also heard of the supporting acts you are probably rearing to go right about now.
The Family Values tour took the seven bands on a 30 city trek which gave more than 400, 000 people the opportunity to witness something that hadn’t been done in five years. The highlights of the tour are represented on this album and reflect the quality of the tour. Headliners Korn have five tracks on the album including a rousing version of “Freak On A Leash” featuring their good friend Cory Taylor from Stone Sour on vocals. Korn even do a throwback version of “Wicked” with Chino Moreno from the Deftones. The Deftones display their signature sound on their two tracks, “My Own Summer” and “Nosebleed”. Stone Sour steals some of the thunder from the other headliners with a rousing rendition of their hit single “Through Glass”. This is defiantly one of the highlight of the album.
10 Years have made a name for themselves in the past year. Their performance on the Family Values tour really puts an exclamation point on what is becoming a promising career. Dir En Grey is probably the most unknown band on the tour but leave their mark none the less. The Japanese band shows that even the eastern cultures can rock as hard as anyone in America. Deadsy are veterans of the Family Values Tour and are back for another installment and don’t disappoint.
Flyleaf is another up and coming band on the tour and they provide the most memorable moments on the album. Their cover of U2’s “Pride (In The Name Of Love)” with guest vocals from Army Of Anyone’s Richard Patrick is the best track on the album. Richard Patrick and Lacey Mosley feed off of each other like they have been singing together for years. Richard Patrick even sounds like Bono on the songs, it’s absolutely amazing.
So if you missed the Family Values Tour this past summer this album will allow you experience highlights of the tour. The tour highlights will also be available on a DVD that will be released the same day as the CD. This is one tour that you will love to relive over and over again.
