Korn - MTV Unplugged

Korn have always been innovators of the rock genre and pushed the boundaries whenever given the chance. They have been rewarded for doing so by multi platinum album sales and legions of fans. This time the band has taken it a step further and has become immortalized into the MTV Unplugged series that has featured such groundbreaking artists such as Alice In Chains, KISS and Nirvana.

When being featured on MTV Unplugged most bands spare no expense when it comes to giving their fans something special. Korn did just that when they performed on December 9th 2006. They performed a set list that featured all of their hits, new and old, but also included a few special songs just for MTV. The first special song was “Freak On A Lease” featuring Amy Lee from Evanescence. The song serves as the lead off single to the album and features a nice string section behind the dual vocals. The second special song performed was a haunting cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” which is a personal favorite of lead singer Jonathan Davis. Lastly the band did a special performance with Robert Smith of The Cure. This was extra special for the Korn because of the influence that The Cure had on the band.

This is just an exclamation point on Korn’s career and proves that the band, despite hardship, will survive. With a new album due out in 2007 the future is bright for Korn, no matter which direction they take this time around.
