Hidden In Plain View - Resolution

Since Hidden In Plain View’s inception six years ago the band has pressed on through thick and thin: Resolution is what I can only describe as the fruit of their labor. It has been fun to watch their evolution throughout the years, but unfortunately Resolution will be the final chapter in this tale seeing as Hidden In Plain View disbanded earlier this year citing professional and creative differences.

I’ve been looking forward to this release for quite some time now, but after catching wind of the band breaking up I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of album Hidden In Plain View would be putting out. I was worried it might be riddled with songs of struggle or frustration, but to my surprise it was quite the opposite. The opening track “Bendy” does an excellent job of setting the mood for Resolution; it more or less chronicles the band’s journey and serves as a big ‘thank you’ to all of their fans.

Resolution is solid – I mean really solid – it rocks from start to finish. With any album there’s usually one or two track I consistently skip over regardless of what mood I’m in, but that’s not the case with this record. The worst part about this album is how I will never ever hear any of the tracks played live. I’d love to see Joe Reo sing “He’ll dare you to breathe; he’ll dare you to drown” to that kid in the front row who knows every word to every song Hidden In Plain View has ever written.

I grew up listening to Hidden In Plain View and will miss them greatly, however this record was a great note to go out on. It is far and away their best release to date.
