Sleepaway -
Sleepaway
Emerging from Buffalos prestigious hardcore scene known for bands like
Snapcase and Every Time I Die, Sleepaway offers music from the other side of the
spectrum. Formed in the Spring of 2005, with an average age of 19, Sleepaway has
been compared to the likes of indie-rock giants Jimmy Eat World, and The Get Up
Kids.
Although these are colossal or even eccentric assertions, their unspoiled self
titled debut, clearly backs up the comparisons, with a solid collection of ten
indie-rock based tracks. The album was released June 6th, 2006 through the indie
label No Milk Records.
Sleepaway combines iridescent guitars with saintly vocals and radio trendy
melodies reminiscent of the late 1990’s alternative rock scene. Sound comparable
to bands like The Goo-Goo Dolls, Copeland and The Gin Blossoms. With that said,
Sleepaway is resurrecting a sound many of us have soon forgotten. Sounds that
take us back six-to-eight years, stirring up a whole pile of memories. It is
evident that Sleepaway’s debut album is about a boy in love. The songs titles
and lyrics have the underlying ‘Love’ theme associated with them, and the
music’s softness combined with the musicians smooth and virtuous delivery make
it all that more effective.
The debut self-titled album is already receiving great reviews from the press.
The following, support and fan base are growing exponentially everyday. And why
not? The band is deserving of every ounce of support they receive. They are
young and talented musicians. The band is currently on tour with The Drama
Summer so look for them in a city near you. On the 6th day of the 6th month of
6th year, evil has a new sound… and it’s Sleepaway.
