The City Drive
- Always Moving Never Stopping
The City Drive’s inception started when three talented musicians from different backgrounds met in LA in the midst of pursuing musical careers. Vocalist and guitarist Danny Smith, bassist Scott Waldman and drummer Marc Precilla form this three-piece pop-rock sensation.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length CD, “Always Moving Never Stopping” The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
You know when something so good comes around, that you can’t get enough of it? Like a new brand of beer that just goes down so smooth you have to have more. My headphones are the glass, my ears are the mouth and The City Drive’s music is my brand of choice. Falling somewhere in between the ranks of emo and pop-rock, this three piece rock band has ceaseless slate of infectious, hook-driven songs. To classify The City Drive’s sound, would be the pop-rock of The All American Rejects, the alternative rock of Weezer and the punk edge of Green Day. The vocals are probably one of the album's strongest parts. They are solid on their own, but when layered they give the band a much fuller sound. The album opener ‘Defeated’ sets the stage for the album, with its energy and harmonics, and could quite possibly be one of the best tracks on the disc. The band shows their softer side with songs like ‘Saints’ and ‘Light Years’ which exhibit outstanding vocals from lead vocalist Danny Smith. Hints of Green Day are heard in the astounding songs like ‘Bring Me Everything ’and ‘Over and Done’. ‘Overready’ has the most stupendous chorus and will have you tapping and singing along indefinitely.
The band's music has been heard on television, in major motion pictures ("Yours, Mine & Ours", "American Pie: Band Camp") and they regularly appear in respected music publications like Alternative Press magazine. “Always Moving Never Stopping” was released on June 27 2006. It quickly went to #1 on Smartpunk.com and has spent the last four weeks in a row in that spot. From the first few piano key strokes to the last soft note of an acoustic guitar, this album truly has it all.
