Verse -
From Anger and Rage
With current musicians and bands portraying life
through love songs, it becomes rare to find a band that is strongly politically
influenced and is truly passionate about every word they say at their shows, on
their albums, and in their interviews. Verse is a hardcore band from Rhode
Island and they’re here to speak their mind about the U.S. government, foreign
policies, and the overall status quo of America and the rest of the world. Their
latest offering, “From Anger And Rage,” features some of the most vehement and
politically charged hardcore punk to come out of the East Coast since their last
album, “Rebuild,” hit store shelves across the world.
“From Anger And Rage” is easily the best work to
come from Verse and is just as powerful as “Rebuild,” if not more so. The album
is filled with lyrics that showcase problems not just on American soil, but
across the world. Verse are just as empowering as they have ever been and ask
listeners alike to make a difference and take a stand against what societal
norms dictate. Outside of the lyrics of this album, Verse have created an album
that doesn’t just feature the same hardcore song structure on every song.
Indeed, Verse are more prone to create music similar to traditional and 90’s
hardcore, but keep in mind that this isn’t just an album meant to be as brutal
as possible. Verse use their finesse and prowess to create an album that is
multitalented and groundbreaking in terms of current hardcore punk bands in
today’s growing music communities.
Lyrically, “From Anger And Rage” is an album that
makes you think and really showcases passion, integrity, and a band that clearly
cares about their own future lives as well as the future lives of every citizen
of the world. Musically, this album is not focused on simply providing “sweet”
mosh parts, but actually showcases versatility in a usually stagnant hardcore
scene. Verse have legitimately created an album that provokes the mind and truly
questions authority. “From Anger And Rage” is an empowering full length that
hopes to strike the hearts of thousands in order to change the world into a
place that isn’t run on money, oil, or greed. If you’re looking for an album
that actually intends for its listeners to think about the world around them,
“From Anger And Rage” is definitely an album for you. If you’re more
conservatively minded, you should still check out the album to gain a different
perspective on the world outside of your own.
