Latterman - We Are Still Alive

Coming straight from Huntington, New York is Latterman, a popular melodic punk band that has been showing the world that you don’t need a Mohawk to be punk. Blending elements of punk rock, melodic hardcore, and even a bit of alternative rock, Latterman have created another new album that is an absolute blast to listen to. “We Are Still Alive” features some of Latterman’s best work to date and is also a testament to their commitment towards the punk rock music scene.

Compared to the likes of Against Me!, The Lawrence Arms, and Hot Water Music, Latterman have definitely composed an album that is as eloquently written, as it is performed. Songs like “If Batman Was Real, He Would Have Beaten…” and “’Dozer Rage” are among the best featured on “We Are Still Alive,” and showcase just how much poise, intelligence, and innovation that Latterman truly have. “We Are Still Alive” features some of the best punk rock to ever see the light of day, which is saying a lot considering the other punk bands out there today.

Overall, the album is actually one of the better melodic punk rock albums to come out in awhile. It is definitely a must own for fans of New Found Glory, Blink-182, and Set Your Goals. It features elements of punk that were mainstays in the 80’s, but also features alternative sounds that compliment later styles of punk that are more commonly featured in recent punk rock acts like Rancid and AFI. The only downside to the album is that not every song on this album is a stone-cold winner. If you can get past that, then this is probably the best melodic punk album to come out this year.
